A guide for visiting sailing boats in Reykjavík


Introduction

Welcome to Reykjavík. We hope you will enjoy your stay here at the marina of the Reykjavik Sailing Club, Brokey.  The Sailing Club provides berths for visiting boats, including electricity, water, shower, toilets, and washing machine.  The main visitor space consists of two 40m floating pontoons, for boats of various lengths.  


The clubhouse is open from 10:00-12:00 *

400 ISK per meter per day.



Keys

Visitors get keys to access the gate, shower/toilet and laundry room.  When you leave, please return the keys in the mailbox upstairs.  Please contact us the day before you leave.

Clubhouse

Visitors are allowed to use the clubhouse facilities during opening hours.

Shower and Toilet

A shower and toilets are available in the clubhouse for no extra charge.

Washing machine and dryer

Washing machine and dryer are located in the shower room.  There is no extra charge for use of the washing machine or dryer, but users need to supply their own detergent. Please be aware of not loading the washing machine with more load than it can handle. If the washing machine displays an error, please unplug the machine, wait several seconds and plug it back in.

Water

Water is available free of charge from the floating pontoons.

Electricity

Electric outlets (230V) are on the floating pontoons.  Charge is 1600 krónur per day.

Gas

Propane gas tanks are available at petrol stations. Butane is not available and it is not possible to refill gas tanks in Iceland.

Fuel

Oil pumps are located on the north side of Reykjavík harbour (see map).  The pumps do not accept normal credit cards. To get diesel, please book an appointment with our harbour manager between 16:00 - 18:00 on the day before fuelling. Price is 350 ISK per liter.

Internet Access

Wi-Fi is available and the router is located in the clubhouse (limited range to floating pontoons). Password can be found written on the wall inside. Wifi in the clubhouse is free of charge.

Mobile 3G/4G internet is widely available in Iceland and reaches ca 20-30 nm from land. Prepaid SIM cards can be bought at supermarkets (at Síminn, Nova or Vodafone).

Weather Forecast

The Icelandic Met Office ( http://en.vedur.is ) provides weather forecast for Iceland and Icelandic waters.


The Danish Met Institute ( http://www.dmi.dk ) provides info on sea ice in Greenland.



Coast Guard

All ships (including pleasure boats) approaching Iceland should report to the Icelandic Coast Guard more than 24 hours before arrival.  It is highly recommended to send email before departure with the following information:  Vessel name, vessel type, MMSI nr, call sign, nationality, length over all, colour of hull, sail nr, number of people on board, last port, estimated date and time of arrival, port of arrival and information about every crew member (name, nationality, passport number, date of birth, place of birth).

Customs

On arrival to Iceland you must clear customs before leaving the boat.  If they do not come soon to the boat you can call the Reykjavik Officer on watch:  +354 898 8493 

If Reykjavik is your last port in Iceland, you should call the above number two hours before departure.  Information on various issues when travelling to Iceland can be found on the customs webpage: http://www.customs.is


Border Control

Officers from the police border control might come to your boat after arrival but in most cases passport check is done by the customs officers.  To avoid frequent visits, please hang the yellow form (obtained from customs) in a window or a visible place onboard.
